With last winter yielding the best Colorado snowpack in years, we knew we were in for an epic whitewater rafting season! We were not disappointed! The Arkansas River levels were above 3,000 cfs (cubic feet per second) for almost 2 months! 3,000 cfs is an amazing, fast, splashy level! The hits were huge, the waves were glassy!
Here are some clips from summer 2011 of our awesome customers paddling hard and getting wet! Hope you enjoy!
With river flows high enough to cut off some of our more challenging whitewater rafting sections, we are extremely fortunate to have access to rafting in Browns Canyon on the Arkansas River. Browns Canyon does not have a state recommended cut off level which means we can raft it as high as it goes!
Browns Canyon gets better and better with higher water flows. If you are feeling disappointed that our Class IV and V trips aren’t available at this time or if are seeking an intermediate raft trip, have no fear! Browns Canyon can be made as exciting or tame as desired by our customers. Big waves and holes can be avoided or run depending on each group’s adventure level. We try very hard to give each customer the trip they are seeking whether it’s an intermediate trip or a more advanced trip with more aggressive lines. This can only be done because of our experienced guides! With more years of commercial raft guiding under their belts than most Arkansas River guides, our guides are able to maneuver the boat to miss or hit just about anything!
If huge waves, over the head splashes and an opportunity to make your trip as mild or wild as you want isn’t enough to get you hooked on Browns Canyon, how about the scenery!?! Browns Canyon is one of Colorado’s great natural treasures. Granite canyons merging into mixed forests with unusual rock formations give Browns Canyon a wild and rugged nature. Access this isolated oasis by paddling through thrilling Class III-IV rapids like Pinball, Zoom Flume, Big Drop, the Seven Stairs, Seidels Suckhole and more. In between rapids, be sure to scan the countryside for a glimpse of bighorn sheep, bald eagles, beavers or more!
You have options when choosing your Browns Canyon whitewater rafting trip! Pick from ½ day, ¾ day or Full day trips ranging from 9.5 to 16 miles on the river. We also offer a Super Browns Full day trip for those who want the most splash for your cash! Super Browns takes you thru 21 miles of Class II – IV whitewater for a great 6 hours on the river. All of our ¾ and Full day trips include our “Ultimate Fajita Buffet” lunch.
As the river levels get higher, our minimum age for Browns Canyon goes up. Please contact our friendly office staff for current age requirements.

Those of us who are hanging around The Adventure Company, waiting for summer to get going, will be on the river everyday: rafting, kayaking, taking out duckies, just having a great time! Come join us! For those of you interested in Advanced or Expert trips, for example The Numbers and Pine Creek, now is the time! Take advantage of these awesome sections before the water flows are too high! We follow the state recommended cut off levels, and with such a big snowpack, these river trips are sure to be cut off soon! We’re rafting the Numbers and Pine Creek now!! Don’t worry though, when the river gets to peak flow, we’ll still be rafting Browns Canyon everyday!!
This year, at The Adventure Company, we are especially excited to start another season of fun. We are celebrating our Silver Anniversary after thriving for 25 years as a Colorado outfitter.
Out of Breckenridge, Colorado in 1987, a small group of professional whitewater rafting guides recognized the growing demand for guided outdoor adventures. With a commitment to safety, customer service, and professionalism, The Adventure Company was born!
In the early years, we offered a handful of whitewater rafting trips, hiking tours, and mountain biking tours. Over the years, we have grown considerably to offer the best raft trips in Colorado. Today we run 25 whitewater rafting trips on 4 different rivers from 5 convenient meeting locations, for beginners to hard-core experts. While whitewater rafting still represents the majority of what we do, we now offer a total of 15 activities and our own lodging through our beautifully remodeled B&B, A Riverhouse Lodge, located on the bank of the Arkansas River.
While we have grown steadily over the years, we have not forgotten what makes us so unique. By seeing things through our guests’ eyes, we have been able to focus on the quality of your experience. Therefore, we have raised the standard for quality in our industry with many innovative ideas. For example, we are Colorado’s first outfitter to bring you the advantages of digital photography with our own equipment for your convenience, value and quality. Also, we are Colorado’s original “no first-year guide outfitter”. Today, we only hire guides who are, at least, in their fourth-year of professional guiding. We feel that this is the most important way to help ensure your safety and enjoyment, and it is unheard of in our industry!
Driven by a passion for the activities that we offer and by remaining focused on providing the very best quality guided adventures, our future looks promising. While nearly 100,000 people have come through our doors since our humble beginning, we hope to see at least 200,000 over the next 25 years!
Thanks for your continued support!
