6 Things to Bring (and 5 Things to Leave Behind) for Your Rafting Trip

Before you head out on your trip, we want to give you an idea of what to bring whitewater rafting. From safety procedures to gear requirements, we’ve got you covered.

Safety First
At The Adventure Company, safety is our top priority. Here are some of the safety procedures we have in place:

  • All of our guides are certified by the state of Colorado and have extensive experience in whitewater rafting. We only hire experienced, professional guides, to ensure that you have the best experience at The Adventure Company. Feel free to ask your guide about their experience!
  • We provide all necessary safety gear, including helmets, life jackets, paddles, and wetsuit packages if needed.
  • Before every trip, we give a safety briefing that includes information on how to paddle, how to stay in the boat, and what to do in case of an emergency.

Daily Trip – What to Bring 
We recommend that you bring the following items with you on your daily rafting trip:

  • Swimsuit or quick-drying shorts and t-shirt
  • Sunscreen and sunglasses with a strap
  • Water shoes or sandals with a strap (no flip flops)
  • A towel and a change of clothes for after the trip (keep this in your car)
  • Any necessary medications
  • We provide all necessary rafting gear, including paddles, helmets, life jackets, and wetsuits if needed.

Daily Trip – What Not to Bring
For safety reasons, we ask that you do not bring the following items on your rafting trip:

  • Jewelry or anything valuable that could get lost in the river
  • Non-waterproof cameras or electronics
  • Alcohol or illegal drugs
  • Denim or cotton clothing on the river
  • Flip flops or crocs – any shoe that isn’t securely strapped to your foot

 Overnight Trip – What to Bring

  • Clothes to paddle in
  • Sandals with straps
  • Rain jacket
  • Sunglasses (with strap)
  • Clothes for camp (it can get cold at night)
  • Camp shoes
  • Shorts
  • T-shirts
  • Long pants
  • Long-sleeved shirt
  • Light or fleece jacket
  • Underwear
  • Socks
  • Swimming suit
  • Small towel
  • Toiletries
  • Chapstick
  • Alcoholic beverages (if 21+)
  • Water bottle (we will bring extra water)
  • Sleeping bag (you can rent one from us)
  • Nylon tent (you can rent one from us)
  • Small pillow
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug repellant
  • Camera (optional – professional photographers will take your pictures on the river)
  • Head lamp
  • Hat
  • Ziplock plastic bags or dry bag for phones, chapstick, etc.
  • Anything else you want to make your trip more enjoyable. Think frisbee, cards, etc.
  • See above ‘What Not to Bring list’ for overnights

We will give you a big dry bag for all your stuff, so nothing will get wet on the trip!

Types of Trips
We offer a variety of trips to suit every level of experience and adventure. We offer Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced rafting experiences. Here are some of the types of trips we offer:

  • Half-day trips for those who want a shorter experience
  • ¾ day trips which include our world-famous Ultimate Fajita Feast
  • Full-day trips with our Ultimate Fajita Feast served right on the river
  • Overnight camping trips for those who want to spend a night (or more) under the stars
