Rafting Trip Essentials

When rafting in Colorado, you can expect to get wet from cool river water. It is best to wear quick drying materials like a nylon or polyester swimsuit and a performance shirt. You can also rely on free rental of our sanitized wetsuits, splash jackets, and neoprene shoes, especially if the weather is cloudy or cool. For your comfort, you should avoid cotton or denim. Secure footwear is required, such as sandals with a heel strap, water shoes, or old sneakers. Flip flops, Crocs, and bare feet are not allowed, but we provide free use of our neoprene river shoes.
We supply all the gear you need: Coast Guard-approved life jackets, helmets, sanitized wetsuits, splash jackets, and river shoes, when needed. Our guides will ensure you’re properly fitted for your safety and comfort, before heading to the river.
Pack sunscreen, sunglasses with a retainer strap, and a change of dry clothes for after your trip. These items along with souvenirs are available in our Outfitter Store. You may want cash or a card for guide gratuities, photos, or snacks at our Station 24 Café.

6/12/2022Great introduction to white water rafting! A great introduction to class 2 white-water rafting for myself, my wife, and our 9 year old. The Milk run is super easy, but not without some thrills for a first timer. Our kiddo was a little small to be paddling, so he just sat and enjoyed the ride. Our guide Ross was well-experienced, and made the trip fun for everyone. We're already looking to try some class 3 rapids on our next trip!read moreread less

8/05/2020We did two different trips with The Adventure Company. I took five of my kids (ages 21 down to 11) on the half day Browns Canyon trip while my wife took our two youngest daughters (ages 5 & 2) on the Milk Run. The Browns Canyon run was good for some of us beginners as it starts off in calmer waters but also get variety of different rapids later. The Milk Run was perfect for the little girls as it was calmer and just fun for them! Everyone had a GREAT time! Our guides (Ross & Paige) were AWESOME! Thank you to them and the rest of The Adventure Company crew for a great time and for the memories made.read moreread less

7/19/2020Great fun and a great guide named Peter We came from Dallas and it was my wife and I and our five year old and nine year old. We did the Milk run and Peter was our guide jas he has a ton of experience and was very knowledgeable about the scenery and navigated through all types of currents. It was a fun ride and we chose it since we have a five year old. He went over all safety precautions and we really enjoyed it. The company is first class and Petra is very helpful with setting up your trip. I strongly recommend this company and can’t thank a Peter enough!!!read moreread less

6/29/2020Best-Day-Ever! What an awesome experience we had. We had a group of 14 so we split into two groups (one with the younger grandkids and one with the older). The younger group took the Milk Run and loved it. The older group took the Browns Canyon Intermediate and had a BLAST! The only disagreement between the two groups was which one had the best guide - Sunnie or Swannie...read moreread less

6/19/2020Perfect hour float for young families; very pandemic proactive We did the milk run in mid-June, so it was more of a “milkshake run,” but it was a perfectly acceptable flow for a 4yo and 7yo’s first whitewater trip. We got outfitted with PFDs and hopped in the van for a 5 minute trip to the drop-in point. Our guide, Swany, provided a very thorough safety overview before we got in. He and the rest of the folks we met were lovely, had a great sense of humor, and shared expansive knowledge of the natural history of the area. The kids had a blast. Most importantly to the times we live in, this outfitter took every precaution to prevent COVID19 spread, including providing gator masks and regularly disinfecting the vans, boats, and equipment. Two thumbs way up. A must-do on a trip to BV/Salida.read moreread less

8/19/2019Fantastic Family-friendly Rafting Trip! We decided to book a last minute rafting trip after our trip to Salida and went solely off of the rating on TripAdvisor. We were not disappointed in the slightest! The company as a whole was very professional and provided an email with detailed instructions as to what to bring and where they were located a few days in advance. They provide most everything that is needed, but a word of advice - bring your own towels. The check-in process was easy and the service was very friendly and professional. Our guide, Josh, was easy-going, super knowledgeable and a lot of fun to chat with! He put the 2 of us who had not gone out before on a rafting trip completely at ease (one of which was a 9.5 y.o.). We will be making this a part of our annual vacation plans and will definitely be back. Can't wait for next year and trying out the Class III!read moreread less

8/05/2019Perfect Rafting for Kids! We have taken several rafting trips with The Adventure Company in the past - Most have been half day on Browns Canyon (which is an amazing adventure). This year we had two younger children so decided to do the Milk Run so we could all go together. It was all we wanted and just a great day on the river. Our guide, Drew, made it so much fun for all of us. Everyone got to paddle and we all got wet enough for it to be special. Highly recommend this for younger children and familiesread moreread less
