While physically fit beginners who are strong swimmers can join, we recommend prior rafting experience for the best enjoyment and safety. Our Buena Vista guides provide extra coaching on paddle technique to help newer rafters tackle Class IV rapids with confidence.
Avoid cotton clothing, denim, flip flops, and Crocs. Secure footwear and quick-dry clothing are essential. In Colorado’s mountain environment, wet cotton will chill you quickly—opt for synthetic layers to stay warm on the Arkansas River.

We monitor river conditions daily. If water levels affect safety, we adjust routes or offer an equally exciting alternate trip to ensure your safety. During high snowmelt in June, we may raise minimum age limits or switch to nearby Browns Canyon for a slightly calmer but still thrilling experience.
Depth varies from shallow, rocky sections to deeper pools, typically ranging from 3 to 15 feet, depending on snowmelt and seasonal water levels. These depth changes create the dynamic waves and drops that make Numbers rafting so exhilarating.

Great family experience Our guide, Hammer, was awesome. So informative and funny always kept us engaged. Our littlest is only 3 and was a little scared. He was so good with her and kept talking to her and getting her to enjoy the scenery. The trip itself is beautiful and relaxing. There were a few welcomed splashes along the way to cool us down and provide a few laughs. I whole heartedly recommend this trip for any family with young children but our 14 year old loved it as well. The entire crew was genial, professional, and informative with a heavy focus on safety. It was so much fun that we're already talking about doing it again.read moreread less

Top Notch! Last weekend, we did The Numbers with Corey as our guide. It was awesome! The Adventure Company is an incredibly professional and well-run operation. Everyone was helpful and courteous. As we drove to the put-in, we received part of the safety information, and we received further instruction once we arrived. When you do The Numbers, you don’t have a lot of time to adjust to paddling and get in sync before you’re at your first rapids, but Corey made sure we did a few practice paddles and turns before we hit number one. As we made our way down the river, it was very apparent that Corey knows this river like the back of his hand, always previewing what we need to look out for next. Very reassuring! I’ve done a fair bit of whitewater, but the trips are usually a little more low key. This was almost constant rapids, and it was much more involved that what I’ve done before. Definitely a welcome change - it was a blast! If you’re looking for a more adventurous route, I’d recommend The Numbers, and definitely recommend The Adventure Company.read moreread less

Fantastic Event for the True Adrenaline Junkie! There are several outfitters (something like 52) that are authorized to host whitewater rafting adventures down the Arkansas River. I highly recommend going with the Adventure Company. These guys were very communicative with me prior to the trip and provided me with clear and simple instructions on exactly where to go, what to bring and what to expect for the trip. We did the full day advanced trip down the Numbers. It was packed with edge of your seat exhilaration between pockets of calmness for you to get your head right and check to make sure everyone was still on board. The guide was friendly, entertaining, very skilled in helping us navigate the rapids. Lunch was ample and delicious. The entire trip was timely and well worth the money. This is one of those experiences that you talk to your friends and family about for many years to come. Highly recommended if you want to do something awesome.read moreread less
